Syracuse University PhD candidates conducting dissertation research on veterans- and/or military family-related topics.

Description

The IVMF Dissertation Research Fund shall be used each year to provide support for one or more Syracuse University Ph.D candidates conducting dissertation research on veterans- and/or military family-related topics.Previous recipients of the Rostker award may apply. Priority will be given to applicants who have not received past funding.

NOTE : A doctoral candidate is an individual who has completed all the requirements for a doctoral degree except for the dissertation.

Cycle:  The 2024 IVMF Dissertation Research Fellowship Program application will remain through June 30th, 2024. Funding will be distributed in the Fall 2024 academic year.

Important Notes

  • Receiving awards like these could affect your financial aid package. It is important to have a discussion with the financial aid office to understand the potential impact.
  • Please submit a budget using the provided template along with your application proposal. (Allowable costs include travel and accommodation expenses to perform dissertation-related research, conferences, data fees, archive fees, software or related equipment, purchased services such as transcription or translation costs, and human subjects ‘payments. Other costs will be considered if well justified).
  • Before requesting funds for software costs, please email ivmfresearch@syr.edu. 
  • Durable equipment purchased through these funds will, by University policy, become the property of the student’s department or program. 
  • Past recipients are eligible to reapply but will need to provide further information about progress toward completion made via previous awards and sufficient justification for additional funds.
  • Effective August 31, 2020, research involving human participants that was halted by the COVID-19 emergency may resume and new human participant research may begin.
