Syracuse University | VETERANS PROGRAM FOR POLITICS AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (VPPCE) APPLICATION
This application is for the 2024 program cohort. The form is available on the Veterans Program for Politics and Civic Engagement home page or email the VPPCE management team at vppce@syr.edu. We will keep you informed of future dates for the program.
VPPCE represents a unique opportunity for those who have sacrificed for our freedom, or their family members, to take an important step toward advancing their commitment to public service through elected office. The program offers intensive training for veteran and military family members with career interests in politics.
VPPCE is a selective, rigorous and intense educational initiative. The program is offered with the initial support of JPMorgan Chase & Co. through a collaborative effort by Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
Applications for this VPPCE will be considered from the following eligible candidates:
· All veterans or their spouses
· Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong potential for a future career in politics, are interested in running for public office or getting involved in political campaigns.
Beyond the criteria identified above, a complete application is the only remaining requirement to be considered for the program. A complete application package will include the following:
1. Completed VPPCE Application Form (available online)
2. Resume
3. Proof of military service (DD214 Member 4; or, VA Statement of Service showing character of service. For Active Duty: a Statement of Service or Record Brief)
4.Optional Supplemental materials
Selection will be based on the ‘whole-person’ concept, with a particular focus on an assessment of potential to excel both in the program and excel upon graduation from the program in the area of leadership in public office. We strive to select a cohort for the program that reflects diverse experiences and perspectives.
